Once on the land the preliminary design includes all the necessary modifications which the land may require, and at the same time, creates a unique strategy for the golf course.

In creating an ideal strategy for each hole, it is fundamental to incorporate these significant attributes in even the preliminary design while on-site. At the same time a fairly accurate construction budget can be derived as a by-product of this process.

Information thus compiled is further considered for both its value in an engineering and strategical context.

Following Seve's philosophy no special feature of the land should be overlooked so as to have it integrated into the design thus producing its own personality unable to consider it as a product of a drawingboard. All of it consistent with the environment and in search of the course's simplicity.
